Lions District 26-A1 Newsletter Click here to download the District Newsletter Greetings to all my Lion friends, We had a great convention. We played hard on Friday and worked hard on Saturday. I want to thank the clubs for the donations that were presented to the District for our various charities totaling $62,585.00. I thank the Cabinet for the flag set and thank the clubs for the monetary gift. Thanks to all the Lions who attended and made this an experience I will never forget. I am encouraged by those who have sent me an email or told me in person about their positive experience. Even though the date was moved up earlier in the year, we still had a great turnout. I enjoyed the Saturday Lunch with all my Lion friends in attendance. Sometimes we are challenged to change and the change can lead to a better experience. I know everyone is get-ting tired of the duck joke I used during my governor visits, but remember the meaning behind the joke. As you ask individuals to join the Lion Club, don‘t give up on them. Now may not be the time, but later in life, it may be the right time. With that said, we are heading towards a strong finish in membership. The last newsletter we were at +14 and now we are at +36. The goal for this Lions year was +60, and we are back on track to obtain the goal. I want to thank everyone who has brought in a member and challenge the rest to invite someone to your club meeting or event. A special thank you goes out to the Rock Township Lions Club for their membership growth. They are +27 members this Lions year. I want to thank everyone who attended the Lions Appreciation day at the Missouri School for the Blind on Sunday, March 9 th. The Lions support the schools after school activities such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, competitions and other activities. MSB is a residence school. The students live on campus during the school week and return home on the weekends. It is our support that keeps them occupied when class work is done. I thank the clubs who donated a total of $2,100.00.On Sunday, March 30 th, we will hold the District M2 mini-convention at House Springs. We will be voting on the new Constitution and By-Laws for the new district. Once it is approved, we will vote on the District Governor and Vice District Governor. I am pleased to announce that we have a nomination for VDG Lion Debbie Blumenberg from the House Springs Lions Club to run for the office of District Governor. I am also pleased to announce that we have a nomination for Lion Marvin McAdams from the Washington Lions Club to run for the office of Vice District Governor. Bring your club banners and delegates to this mini-convention.As a reminder, please get your PU 101 submitted as early as possible. The Directory Chairperson needs these to get started on the little directories of District M2. We would like to have them by April 15 th.The next cabinet meeting will start at 7:00 pm on Monday, April 7 th at the Gerald Lions Club. This will be a report night. Thanks again for all you do and see you at the mini-convention. Yours in Lionism, Lion Terry Boettcher District Governor 26 A1 |
